Mac Makeup

Bridal make up is different to other make ups.” Better and beautiful but still you.” Your products need to look great, photograph well and withstand the day’s events. Loud colours, dark dramatic eyes and sculptured cheekbones are not appropriate for a wedding. I aim for a beautiful glowing face with flawless skin, sparkling eyes, long black lashes, dewy lips and soft blush applied to the apples of your cheeks, but of course the final decision is yours. Styles vary depending on the wedding theme, time of day and of course the bride.

I feel I can achieve the best look using MAC products such as face and body foundation, mineralised finishing powders, an extensive selection of eye shadows and pigments applied over preps and primers.

Beauty Timeline

The below timeline is the ideal preparation plan, however not always possible for shorter wedding timeline.

One Year Ahead

If you have any problem areas you’d like to target now is the time. To ensure you feel energised and look your best during your wedding start and exercise regime and healthy eating. Beginning early will help you achieve realistic goals. IF you are considering cosmetic dentistry such as teeth whitening veneers or filling replacement you should consult your dentist for a suitable treatment schedule. Se your budget to avoid a beauty blowout!

Six Months Out

Now is the time to look at booking beauty appointments, talking to your hairdresser and makeup artist and plan for the look you want on the day. I.e. hair length, colour and skin tone. Begin your skincare routine that is suitable for your skin. Taking care of your nails by applying a daily moisturiser to hands and cuticles. Don’t forget your hands will be getting plenty of attention on your wedding day.

Three Months

If you have a healthy budget book in facials 3-4 weekly or discus with your beautician what you can do at home. Also ask your bridesmaids to care for their skin in the next few months. If your fake tanning start trialling till you find the right colour and application for your skin. You should have your hair and makeup trial soon and know you are happy with the look.

Three Weeks

Hair appointment for colour roots and ends. Getting ready for the day. For lashes worth battering tinting is a great idea and manicure, always good to try beforehand ( never use new products the week before the wedding). Good idea to have a spare lipstick, nail polish and powder with you on the day for touch-ups , these should be discussed at the trial. Look after your body by drinking plenty of water, early nights Stop facial a week before as they can bring out impurities’ in the skin.

Day Before

Have a relaxing massage and good night’s sleep. If a spot appears pop toothpaste on it or have a handy spot drying product on hand.

Notes for the day

For wedding day timing allocate 45 minutes each for bridesmaids and mothers, and an hour for the bride. I aim to have everyone’s make-up completed at least half an hour before the photographer arrives so you have time to get dressed. Better to allow more time than you think, than less.
Wear a top that is button-up or wrap around so you don't have to take it off over your head. Your face needs to be freshly washed, and if you have dry skin use an oil-free moisturiser. The area you allocate for make-up needs to have good lighting (preferably natural light) and a table or bench.
